Biography
Richard received a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction from the University of Virginia in 1974 and his Juris Doctor degree from the William & Mary Law School in 1977.  After graduation, he joined the firm then known as Furniss, Davis and Rashkind where he has defended civil lawsuits in state and federal courts throughout Virginia for almost 35 years. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Virginia's Best Lawyers, Virginia Super Lawyers, and Who's Who in American Law. He serves as registered agent and counsel to the Virginia State Claims Association and the Hampton Roads Claims Association.

Richard is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Bar Association, the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, the Defense Research Institute, the Local Government Attorneys of Virginia, the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Norfolk-Portsmouth Bar Association and the Virginia Beach Bar Association.
